Meet Tom and Bonnie...

Jesus Christ is the life of the Jesus Coffeehouse, but Tom and Bonnie are the heart and soul. One has only to read the many "thank you" notes and pictures on the wall to know how much they are loved. One has only to talk with the coffeehouse patrons to see how many lives have been touched by this tireless couple who give all they have and all they are for the glory of God. Proverbs 20:6b asks, "but a faithful man, who can find?" We found two - running the Jesus Coffeehouse.

The Jesus House ~ A Missionary Church to the streets of America. Christmas of 1987 Thomas and Bonnie Lentz lived in downtown Bloomington, IL. It was their first Christmas together with their new son as Born Again Christians, so out of their love and gratitude to their Lord, Thomas being an artist painted a sign that simple said "JESUS" they hung this sign on their old brick front porch and lit it up with Christmas lights. Many people were drawn to the name of Jesus for help, hope and refuge. As new believers in Christ they were reading the "Red Letters" in the Bible and were obedient to God's call to preach the gospel to the poor and heal the broken hearted.

The power of the Holy Spirit was so present at their home, those who sat in darkness were saved and the sick were healed; as Thomas and Bonnie opened their home The Lord Jesus Christ manfested himself through worship, prayer, the study of His Word, and through many acts of kindness to all those who would knock on their door.

Jumping into the present, in November of 2000, They sought the Lord about a building located just down from the old Jesus House and God made a way where there seemed to be no way, and They purchased the building at 724. W,. Washington St. in Bloomington, IL. The Lord has established them within their community as a place of refgue and hope. By the power of the Holy Spirit!
